going to the battlefield or a party with liat yossifor paintings

if to paint is to have an out of the body experience liat yossifor is enjoying some amazing out of the body journeys. in her new show 'double life' at anita becker's gallery she is presenting a group of some performative works that could be result of that possible experience. the gesture, the materialization of space and the encounter with the various subject and actions that somehow must be going trough yossifor's mind and body, while she executes and in between process of doing it, bring us to fantasize about places, movements and millions of things that we still looking for as humans in this age of spectacle; just to mention the visionary guy debord.

today we have the choice to be flooded with imageries from our home to the next gas station, at our own home on the internet; or any other flix. therefore lets enjoy the ride with liat. we may end up in a party but we may join our own battlefields. but her paintings will be much easy on our eyes then M.t.fee!

Dirk Fleischmann „Hörstück“ ( ca. 12 Min., Ausschnitt) Aus einer Tonaufnahme der ca. 90 minütigen Aufführung des Dürrenmatt Stücks „Die Physiker“ vom 24.1.1999 in den Städtischen Bühnen Frankfurt wurde jeglicher Text entfernt, so dass nur Äußerungen des Publikums (Husten, Räuspern etc.) übriggeblieben sind.

Liu Guangyun “Filling Space—50.000 Pearls”  HD Video, Farbe, Ton, China / D 2015, 3 Min. 27 Sek. 11 Arbeiter stehen bewegungslos in einer Werkshalle des chinesischen Departments der Kommunikationsfirma System Electronics. Vom oberen Bildrand fallen in immer dichterer Folge 50.000 Perlen vor ihnen zu Boden, hüpfen auf und nieder und erzeugen ein flirrendes Feld scheinbar chaotischer Strukturen bis sie zur Ruhe kommen.

Jochem Hendricks “Front Windows” HD Video, Farbe, Ton, D 2008-2009, 6 Min. Die Fensterscheiben eines großen Hauses wurden nach und nach in wechselnden Rhythmen und Geschwindigkeiten von innen nach außen mit großen Steinen eingeworfen. Die Abfolge der 200 Einschläge beruht auf der Verwendung eines Zufallsgenerators, Rhythmus und Tempo sind komponiert und nur scheinbar chaotisch. Es gibt schnelle, harte und laute Passagen, aber auch ruhige und feinteilige, in denen wieder Spannung aufgebaut wird. Der Ton ist ein ebenso wichtiger Bestandteil der Arbeit wie das Bild.

Sharon Lockhart „Podwórka“ HD von 16 mm, Farbe, Ton, USA 2009, 32 Min. Thema des Films sind die Hinterhöfe in Łódź (Polen), und die Kinder, die sie bewohnen. Die Höfe und Spielplätze der Kinder, die in den umliegenden Wohnungen leben, sind allgegenwärtig in Lódź. Als Serie flüchtiger Zwischeneinlagen im Leben der Stadt ist Podwórka sowohl die Studie eines spezifischen Ortes als auch ein Wachrufen des Einfallsreichtums der Kindheit.

Gunter Deller “Light my Fire” HD von Super 8, Farbe, Ton, D 2013, 8 Min. Die Beobachtung eines Teenagerpärchens im Hinterhof des Filmemachers ist Ausgangspunkt einer „entzündenden“ Bild-/Tonmontage.

SCHAUT! FILM VIDEO KUNST eröffnet am 13.1.2015

Das Mal Seh‘n Kino ist seit über 30 Jahren ein besonderer Ort der künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung durch sein vielfältiges und anspruchsvolles Filmangebot. Der Ausstellungsraum SCHAUT! im 1. Stock des MAL SEH’N KINO bietet von nun an im monatlichen Wechsel zeitgenössische Videokunst, jeden Abend ab 19 Uhr in einer geloopten Projektion und steht allen Besuchern bei freiem Eintritt offen. Ausgewählt und organisiert werden die Ausstellungen vom Kurator Saul Judd (LICHTER Filmfest) und Gunter Deller (Künstler und Mitbetreiber des Mal Seh’n Kino). Der Fokus liegt auf Künstlerinnen und Künstlern, deren Arbeiten sich im Spannungsfeld von Kino und Kunst bewegen und relevant für die gegenwärtigen Kunstdiskurse sind. Der Ausstellungsraum SCHAUT! ist eine Ergänzung für die Frankfurter Kunstlandschaft und bietet die Möglichkeit einer spannenden Begegnung mit Kunst in den Abendstunden.

Ihre „Inszenierungen des Authentischen“ entfalten dabei oft einen absurden Humor. Im Anschluss Künstlergespräch und Buchpräsentation (Essays zum Werk von Corinna Schnitt - Stroemfeld Verlag Frankfurt) Die Künstlerin Corinna Schnitt und die Herausgeberin Heike Klippel (Professorin für Filmtheorie an der HBK Braunschweig) sind anwesend.

Acht Akteure stehen verteilt auf dem zentralen Rathausplatz Marl und rufen sich nacheinander mit Megaphonen alltägliche Sätze zu, als wollten sie eine Unterhaltung miteinander führen: "Wird er vielleicht im Lotto gewonnen haben?" Oder: "Du wirst mir viel von deinen Erlebnissen erzählt haben" Formuliert im Futur II spielen diese Zurufe mit der Erwartung, dass bestimmte Handlungen zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt in der Zukunft abgeschlossen sein werden. Die verwendete Zeitform schafft eine Distanz im Hier und Jetzt, verfremdet die Leichtigkeit alltäglicher Konversationen und zeigt, wie stark gegenwärtiges Erleben von Erwartungen des Zukünftigen geprägt wird. Das Video wurde mit einer Drohne gedreht und ermöglicht ungewohnte Perspektiven auf das in den 70-ziger Jahren gebaute Häuserensemble des Rathausplatzes.

'living in the age of drones - light' ∆ Hotel Amazonas

we reached a time that anybody can function as a drone. and that is a practice long exercised in some artistic disciplines throughout the centuries. but we now got sophisticated, hardware and software wise. but the practice itself did not change. to observe and be observed is a constant in art. somehow we enjoy to look upon things, places and people, to be able to transform it. but in the other hand we are afraid of being observed or investigated. wich is, today, almost impossible. it is part of the performative game of life.

by invitation of artists saori kuno, margareth kaserer and simon steinhauser i came to hotel amazonas open fields art festival & residency in the summer of 2015

the ability to deal with the banalities of life and still be elegant and serious about it is a must in a world of abundant visual and written information. erik van der weijde seems to be able to approach this matter via his projects involving photography, installations works and his fanzine. his publication subway with its recycling aesthetics and content reach a point where we can register or not the possibilities of engaging with information or just entertain ourselves with the ultra production of it.

m/lartspace is beating the shit out of art from under the brooklyn bridge to piracanga beach and lucky frankfurters to have the solo show from one of the makers of it all. lena henke will be having her second solo at parisa kind. in her work she always engage with different means and meanings to establish an image and the results can be sculptural, photographic or any discipline she wishes to use. another aspect of her work is the ability to engage others in discover the potentials art has to transform attitudes in itself and its makers. since her aerly days in the städelschule she enjoy very much the company of cool peers in doing in her on apartment such great art experiments. welcome home lena.

the winds are always blowing and the liquids always flowing

to identify the energies which are around us and bring it to an aestethetic form can be tricky. somehow daniel stempfer managed it when he developed his new work for the show at jenifer nails.
the simple, but really well designed, paterns and constructions that he made does elevate elements that are found or not found, because they are more likely to be in the background of our lives, to a very pleasant view. this landscape situation keep you wondering about the poetics of existence. what is cool about it is that event if is poetic it doesn't mean corny as we can find in many position around art these days. if you have the chance please do have a chat about these works with his creator.

a stroll by and with amy ball bertrand flanet hanne lippard natasja loutchko inger wold lund filippa pettersson in the sunny bright side of the moonlight road of sincerity with occasional stumbling blocks on the way.

a performance « alone, together or with you » by filippa pettersson took place and left some marks on the window-door of parisa's kind place where a bulletin called SWEAT n°5 with clémentine coupau, andrew de freitas, maki ishii, curtis mclean, stuart middleton and alexey vanushkin can also be found. all of it was orchestrated by aurélia defrance.

dontmiss the refreshing universum von daniel turner

to bring the very simple things to the space and make it become the center of the viewer's attention is a quite poetic but risky adventure!!! daniel turner does it in a very easy and elegant way!!! the visual composition is just stunning but it hast some hidden secrets to be discovered underneath its apparently beauty!!! its reduction is powerful but what make it so striking is that it could vanish at any next second!!!

walter benjamin created with the arcades project a body of work which has been seeing as an brilliant artistic endeavor of his. the assembly of historical text containing comments, anecdotes, magazine articles and other literary miscellaneous brings the reader to a world of socio-political, literary curiosities of the parisian society of the 20's. and somehow its analyses still, in many cases, very contemporary.

like strolling through an arcade, the audience will be engaged in a mental distraction which involves historical facts and fictional narrative through reading benjamin's das passagen- werk/the arcades project we are presenting a view of the twenties that created the whole thing.

the audience is invited to join the textual performance, building a literary sculpture and enjoy musical abstractions of the selected chapters.

the performative reading will be in german, french, and english.
